The Community Shield Homeowners Insurance Program is coverage provided by AMERIND Risk Management Corporation, a tribally-owned organization.

AMERIND provides coverage in Indian Country and is not state regulated. Policies issued will be an HO3 policy and will be provided based on the current replacement cost of your home.

Eligibility

    • Applicant must be a member of a federally recognized tribe. Preference is given to Cherokee Nation tribal citizens.
    • The Applicant's family income cannot exceed 80% of median income guidelines.
    • The home to be insured must be located within the Cherokee Nation Reservation.
    • The home to be insured must be the homeowner's primary residence.
    • The home to be insured cannot exceed 2,300 square feet.
    • The home must be located on trust or restricted land, homes located on fee simple land must currently be or have previously been assisted with NAHASDA funds.
    • Other eligibility requirements apply according to the Community Shield Homeowners Insurance Program Policy.
