Sequoyah Schools Announces Cast for Wizard of Oz

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Sequoyah Schools drama department has announced the cast for the spring production of “The Wizard of Oz.”
“It was such a thrill to have so many Sequoyah students audition for ‘The Wizard of Oz,’” said Amanda Ray, Sequoyah Schools’ drama teacher. “This is by far the biggest production we’ve tackled so far and it was such an encouragement to have forty students auditioning.”
The audition process was around four hours long, and consisted of singing, dancing and reading sections from the script.
“It was a long night full of nerves and jitters, but also a great experience for me as a drama instructor to get to know more of Sequoyah’s students and to meet some extremely talented performers,” Ray said.
Cast members include Nathalie Tomasik as Dorothy Gale, Billie Gonzales as Professor Marvel, LeighAnna Evans as the scarecrow, Chris Hummingbird as the tin man, Audie Todome as the cowardly lion, Brittiany Swepston as the wicked witch of the west, Dakota Rios as Uncle Henry, Alia Willie as Auntie Em, Sophie Plumb as Toto, Emily Buckner as Glinda the good witch. Diamond Bailey, Jodi Hooper, and Taylor Yochum will play The Lollipop Guild. Tiffany Holmes, Jaycee Jackson and Cori Butcher will play the Lullaby League and Ciji Chavez will be the mayor and Dakota Rios will be the coroner. The munchkins will be played by Lakin Keener, Megan Larney, Lily Drywater, Kristen Berryhill and Dylan Carter. The flying monkeys will be played by Taylor Poe, Vanity Debrosse, Rozlyn Locust and Shelby Botone. Carolyn Drywater, Vera Rooster and Haley Gourd will be scary trees and Rachel Buckner, Meaghan Williams, Diamond Bailey, Jaycee Jackson, Taylor Yochum, Tiffany Knox, Kristen Berryhill, Ciji Chavez and Carolyn Drywater will play the citizens of Oz and Symone Ross, Haylee Beck and Sunday Plumb will be the twister dancers.
Sequoyah Schools’ “The Wizard of Oz” will be performed May 6 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and May 7 at 7 p.m. at Sequoyah Schools’ The Place Where They Play. Admission is free.
